The Clinical Data Platform is a proof-of-concept designed to streamline the process of clinical data review for life sciences teams. Built in just one month at Perficient, the goal was to showcase how intuitive workflows and clean design could reduce the time spent reviewing trial data. I joined as the UX/UI designer and collaborated with a Creative Director to design the core experience and prototype. The PoC helped secure investment from Johnson & Johnson and has since evolved into a full product initiative
The Challenge
Imagine researchers spending days manually reviewing clinical trial data, unable to quickly identify patterns or issues that require immediate attention.
How can we use design to accelerate insights and decision making?
Business Context
Clinical data review teams struggled with:
Time-consuming manual review of complex trial data.
Difficulty prioritizing and tracking issues across multiple studies
Limited visualization tools to identify patterns and outliers.
Siloed information requiring constant context-switching.
The goal was to create a compelling proof-of-concept in just one month that could demonstrate value to potential clients and secure investment for full development.
The UX/UI Challenge
Designing for rapid validation: Create a high-fidelity prototype that showcases core functionality within a tight one-month timeline.
Simplifying complex data: Transform technical clinical information into clear, actionable insights through intuitive interfaces and visualizations.
Balancing depth and usability: Design a solution sophisticated enough to handle complex workflows while remaining intuitive for clinical researchers.

Rapid Prototype for Investment
I designed an interactive prototype showcasing core clinical data workflows and visualization capabilities. Using a consistent UI kit, I brought the concept to life through high-fidelity screens that demonstrated how users could manage tasks, review data, and track study progress.
This prototype was used in stakeholder demos and successfully secured investment from Johnson & Johnson, becoming the foundation for further product development.
Core Platform Design
I designed intuitive workflows that connect study dashboards, task management, and data analysis tools in a logical sequence. Each interface supports specific researcher tasks while maintaining visual consistency and clear navigation paths
Results and Impact
Key Learnings
Balance process with delivery While adhering to UX principles, I adapted the research and design process to fit tight timelines without sacrificing quality or user focus.
Secondary research can still drive user-centered design: When direct user access is limited, leveraging existing knowledge, stakeholder insights, and industry standards can still result in effective, user-focused solutions.
